Abstract: Legal hermeneutics, as a field dedicated to the interpretation of law, plays an essential role in the application of norms, especially in the face of gaps, ambiguities, or normative conflicts. Over time, legal doctrine has systematized different forms of interpretation, each aimed at resolving specific situations. This expanded summary analyzes the main hermeneutical types—ultra legem, praeter legem, and contra legem—and the interpretative models established by contemporary legal doctrine, relating them to the most recurrent interpretative practices in the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
